Eating Your Way Across Kentucky – The Recipes

Retail Price: $24.95

Now, there is no excuse for not serving tasty meals at home.  With this book you get the best of both worlds. Not only does it let you know where 101 Places to Eat are located, it now gives you their recipes. For the most part this is not about gourmet food, although some recipes might be considered that. If you are expecting recipes that are all about simple food, this is your book!  Cooking in Kentucky is all about simple food! These recipes have been created years ago, usually handed down within families from generation to generation. In a few cases recipes were based on taste, “I don’t measure anything,” said one restaurant owner. “I have done it so long I just know what amount to put in.”  When it’s all said and done, it is indeed about the taste, regardless of how the cook or chef got there.  A measured pour of this and a pinch of that only matters when the end result is a delicious meal that you can now prepare in your own kitchen.  Hopefully, this will hold you over until you can get back to the little restaurant from which it came.

Based on last year’s best selling Eating Your Way Across Kentucky-101 Must Places to Eat, Gary West’s sequel Eating Your Way Across Kentucky-RECIPES picks and tells the best recipes from choice restaurants.  Provides brief description of Chefs & owners.  Gives complete recipe with ingredients and special techniques for these most famous dishes.

The criteria for making the 101 are that it cannot be a chain restaurant, and, except for a rare exception, must have been in operation for at least five years.
And, of course, the food must be exceptionally delicious.

Beautifully illustrated with detailed directions and menu reviews, this book is guaranteed to thrill the traveler trekking across the bluegrass in his never-ending pursuit of his next dining delight.

Proceeds from the sale of this book will also help other communities and organizations preserve their history through Our American Heritage Project, a non-profit organization.
